Che Guevara’s Visit to India

In 1959, the legendary guerrilla leader, Che Guevara, came to India for a brief political visit. There are only a handful of photographs that document his visit. However, a young, self-described ​“accidental journalist,” K. P. Bhanumathy, managed to steal an interview with him for the All India Radio. ​“Today, I would have been conscious about (cold) calling. But then I was young and full of energy. He was a young man in army fatigues with a goatee beard and a cigar. Very good-looking,” Sadly, AIR eventually deleted this interview, and many others, in order to re-use the tapes.
